In a list of the top charities in America, Charity Intelligence has found that many organizations have been helping people with mental health problems. Their report compiled a list of these top 10 charities and what they each do for those suffering from mental health issues.


The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation

The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation is one such charity aimed at improving the lives of those who suffer from mood disorders or other mental illnesses by supporting research while also offering support to patients and their families.


The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

Seeks to reduce suicide rates throughout our nation by providing education about suicide prevention while changing public policies that can help prevent this tragedy from happening again.



The National Mentoring Partnership focuses on mentoring children and teens to improve their lives and prospects.



The National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) provides education, training, support groups, and more for those who suffer from mental illness or depression and promotes legislation that can make a difference when treating such diseases.


Mental Health Innovations (MHI)

Works to promote wellness and support mental illness by integrating behavioral health care into primary medical practices.


Mental Health America (MHA)

Works to provide education for the people who need it most to make a difference at individual and community levels.


Depression & Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA)

The organization aims to support patients by providing information about available treatments and offering support groups nationwide so that more individuals can get involved with their local communities after receiving proper diagnosis and treatment.


Child Mind Institute

Child Mind Institute aims at improving children’s lives by offering help with attention problems or other issues so they can live up to their full potential both academically and socially. Additionally, the organization also supports research aimed at helping those who suffer from various forms of psychiatric disorders. It focuses primarily on ADHD and offers assistance for autism spectrum disorder (ASD), anxiety, depression and OCD.
